Faculty Council and Commissions
The most important body in a department is the Faculty Council, which has the final say on all important decisions. On this page, we explain how the Faculty Council is connected to the Student Council and what all these committees are. We also have some information about the election procedures here.
Central decisions affecting everyday student life and teaching are made in the department's committees. To ensure that the student perspective is not missing, we send elected representatives to these meetings.
There, we advocate for your interests and actively shape the framework conditions of your studies.
The Faculty Council
The Faculty Council is the highest decision-making body in our department. This is where the most important decisions are made.
Topics include changes to study programs, examination regulations and the strategic direction of the department. We, as the student representatives, have student members who are entitled to vote on decisions.
The commissions
Many topics are discussed in specialized commissions before they are put to the vote. We are also represented here:
- Commission for Teaching and Studies: This committee deals with the content and further development of degree programs.
- Study Advisory Board: The Advisory Board advises the department on teaching issues and study reforms.
- Commission for the Quality Improvement of Teaching and Studies: This committee advises on the use of state funds for the quality improvement of teaching (QV funds). This concerns, for example, the financing of tutorials or teaching materials.
- Evaluation committee: This is where the results of teaching evaluations are discussed in order to ensure the quality of lectures and seminars.
The examination boards
The respective examination boards are responsible for individual concerns in the course of studies (e.g. recognition of achievements or hardship applications). Our task is to ensure that the examination regulations are interpreted fairly.
There are committees for the following areas:
- Bachelor/Master Mathematics & Technomathematics
- Bachelor/Master Business Mathematics
- Teacher Training Mathematics & Mathematical Basic Education
