Awareness

We want everyone at our events to feel comfortable and have fun in a relaxed manner. That's why we have an awareness team.

There is no place for transgressive behavior, discrimination and violence at our events. However, should a situation arise in which you feel uncomfortable or need support, we are there for you.

What is the awareness team there for?

Our main task is to provide a point of contact when boundaries have been crossed. We listen, support and intervene when necessary.

You can contact us at any time if you have experienced

  • Discrimination
  • Harassment & sexism
  • racism
  • queer hostility

Or if you feel unsafe or harassed for any other reason.

Important: You don't have to have a "bad" story to contact us. If something feels wrong to you, that's reason enough.

How do you recognize us?

We are always present and clearly visible at events. You will recognize the awareness team:

  • Purple vests
  • Purple/pink wristbands

Simply speak to us or tap us on the shoulder. We will then go with you to a quieter place.

Our basic principles

So that you know what you can rely on, we work according to fixed principles:

1. power of definition
You alone decide where your boundaries lie and when they have been crossed. We do not question your experience and do not discuss whether something was "really meant to be".

2. partiality
We are on your side. We are not neutral arbiters and do not conduct victim-offender interviews. Our priority is your protection and support.

3. confidentiality
Everything you tell us stays with us. We will not pass on any information to outsiders or other members of the student council unless you explicitly want us to.

The team

Notification form for awareness matters

Sometimes it is difficult to react immediately in a situation, or an uneasy feeling only arises later. That's perfectly fine.

With this form, we offer you a protected space to report incidents to us, give feedback or request support - regardless of whether it concerns you or something you have observed.

Again, your report will be treated with absolute confidentiality and will only be read by our awareness team. We are on your side. If you leave your contact details, we will get back to you as soon as possible to see how we can support you.

If you wish to have your complaint handled anonymously, you can complete the form now. However, if you would like to be available as a contact person for the student council, you can leave your name and email address in the next two lines.

Your information will only be used within TU Dortmund University to answer your questions and concerns. Your data will be deleted as soon as the request has been clarified. By submitting the form, your request will be processed to fulfill the tasks of TU Dortmund University with Art. 6 (1) (e) GDPR.
